Bored @ School
Bored @ School came from the idea of drawing in your notebook (or on pieces of paper) during class, when you were actually supposed to pay attention. It is a 2D puzzle platformer where you use your own drawings to solve the puzzles.
If you choose 'Tutorial' in the main menu you play one tutorial level that explains the controls, after which you automatically enter level01. This was not clear to people so I thought I'd clarify here. Have fun!
For people revisiting my game, unfortunately there is no saving system implemented. My apologies:(
To everyone who wasn't "ready to go home". I am planning on developing a more well-rounded version of Bored @ School and publishing it on itch. For the rework I am aiming for: more consistent movement, reworked mechanics, additional drawing mechanics, thorough playtesting, extra levels, character customization, and more! Follow me if you don't want to miss out:)
If you really enjoyed playing my game and you feel like you want to support me on my game dev journey you can click the support this game button.
Thank you!

awesome experience.. the music gives it a really nice atmosphere!
Love the concept and played through the whole game wanting more! I get the sketchy theme but I wish there were a more intuitive way to measure and draw shapes more precisely. It's a bit frustrating when you have to meticulously re-draw shapes that end up being a teensy too big or a teensy too small. I was thinking if the background were more of an engineering graph paper notebook, the player could better calculate the size of gaps and it could aid in the drawing of shapes. Also a feature where you could hold a key like shift while you're drawing to toggle into straight line only mode might be nice.
Really happy to hear you enjoyed it, and thanks alot for the detailed feedback and kind words. Regarding the engineering graph paper notebook, I actually experimented with lined and blocked paper as a background but just could not get the same game feel with those backgrounds. I get your point however, there is probably a middle way. Maybe a key that allows you see your previous drawing (with lower opacity) in the drawbox, so you can draw over it? As for the key to draw straight lines, thats a great idea!! I am planning on developing a well-rounded remake at some point, maybe you'll get to play it someday:) Cheers!
The level with 4 separate platforms and the colors from bottom to top being red, red, green is broken. the pit death is much higher than it should be and you can't reach the lowest red platform at all. great game overall!
Yes I also noticed that. There are two levels with incorrect deathboxes but I didn't have enough time during the game jam to do proper play testing :( Also I wasn't sure if I was allowed to change the game after the jam, Im very new to game jams. Thanks for pointing it out though:)
this is fun! i played through all the levels and would have kept playing if there were more!
Happy to hear you had fun! I wish I had the time to make more levels
is there a way to select a level after closing the game? it restarts at level 1
No I'm sorry, I didn't have time for that:( Thanks for playing though!
